Music files are often protected by Copyright Laws, If you use Copywrited music, AOL may shut down your webpage, or cancel your AOL account. Plus its not fair to the artist who make their living by selling the music. SIMPLY PUT: DO NOT USE COPYRIGHT PROTECTED MUSIC ON YOUR PAGE!

1. Find a sound file that you like by searching the Internet. Search the web for "midi" files or "wav" files. The file you choose should end in .mid or .wav. DOWNLOAD the file to your computer. NOTE .zip files are not sound files!

2. Goto your FTP SPACE by using the link below.

KEYWORD: aol://5862:144/members.aol.com:/yourscreenname

3. SELECT UPLOAD BUTTON- the button will be on your ftp space

4. Make sure the BINARY (programs and graphics) is checked

5. For REMOTE FILENAME type in sound.mid if your file is a midi file or sound.wav if your file is a wav file(sound.mid or sound.wav MUST be in lowercase letters, Very important!) The remote file name must be sound.mid or sound.wav DO NOT rename this file to the file you downloaded. Example: remote file name drdre.mid =WRONG sound.mid = correct

6. Hit continue

7. Hit Select File

8. Select the sound you have chosen and double clicking it.. or single click and hit OPEN. (You will have to find this sound on your C drive)

9. hit SEND. Your computer now should upload the sound.

now check and make sure you have the file sound.mid or sound.wav in your ftp space...

10. Add this into your web page.. go to Easy Designer. Click "insert" click on "Advanced HTML"

if your files a .mid insert:
<bgsound src="http://members.aol.com/yourscreenname/sound.mid" loop="999">

if your files a .wav insert:
<bgsound src="http://members.aol.com/yourscreenname/sound.wav" loop="999">

(sound.mid or sound.wav MUST be in lowercase letters, Very important!)

The loop="999" means the sound will play 999 times.. you can change this number!

Preview your page and make sure the sound works!

Notes:

MIDI files are just music instruments.. no voice singing
WAV files are usually short clips of sound that can include voices!

If you go too slow. you may get disconnected from your FTP space, just start over if this happens.

I Do not recommend .MP3 files. They are extremely LARGE and you probably don't have enough free FTP space to upload them... If you do upload one, due to large file sizes, your page will take 15-30 minutes to load.. and that's way too long!

The smaller the sound file the better. I do not recommend any sound file over 200,000 bytes. it will take too long to load your page!
